"Monster" Poster
Print No.1
This is the first of three art prints we created recently for Poetic. Aesthetic.: An Exploration of Creativity in Poetry and Visual Art an exhibition presented by The Art Gallery at the University of Maryland.
The gallery paired together a Maryland poet with a national or international artist and each created three new works of art based on, and incorporating, the poems (or poem) of the poet. The medium of the works varied from paintings, drawings and screen-printed posters to sculptures, videos and installations.
We created a set of three limited edition hand silkscreened prints based on poet Elizabeth Arnold's work entitled Monster from Effacement, which is a book-length sequence of poems. Each print features the selection of Arnold's poem that inspired it.
This is a 16" x 20" two color silkscreen poster, printed with non-toxic water based ink and printed on Springhill Index in Ivory 140# index stock. This is a signed edition of just 50 prints. We will only have 20 prints available for purchase, ever. This will not be reprinted.
The copy featured at the bottom:
"What if everyone were eyeless
and we could only
hear, feel space,
so that that feeling eclipsed seeing,
roared it to the side?
Old men's voices, chanting, channeling,
choruses in cathedrals
–– you have to close your eyes to see it."
Almost SOLD OUT.
Only 3 editioned prints remain.
